Here are some
helpful marketing tips when putting together
affiliate pages and links.
Many have talked
about 'some person' who is getting rich by simply putting a link or two on
their website. Most who have tried, know its more like being successful at
fishing. In fishing it takes work get the bait in front of the fish, patience
to keep trying and experimentation to get those successful "strikes" (or
sales) to come on your line - I mean links - in on a regular basis. OK enough
fish talk I am much better at safety products and training than fishing.
Choosing your
products
We offer one of
the widest selections of first aid, safety and emergency response products
around. Great selection is good but it can also be daunting if you are not
exactly sure of what you need. Try not to link simply to the main page and
hope the person finds something they want. Help the potential customer
not get lost with a little direction. First, choose the products that best
match your content or the interests of your visitors. For example, if your
page is discussing homeland security for areas like businesses, community
preparedness, or government our page
http://www.safetystore.com/disastermed.asp would be a great direct link.
Home and Child Safety sites might want to go directly to pages that show
family oriented
first aid kits. Fire or EMS pages
might want to link to pages
Gloflex.asp or
medmain.asp The customer may want to roam around after to look at more things. Our site gives them many links to continue shopping.
From trekking in
Nepal to a picnic at your local park we have great products for all your
visitors.
Tips for
selecting relevant product picks:
When building
individual item links, use the SafetyStore.com site search engine first
to narrow down your picks. Pop in your search term; you can sort the returned
results first by product line. or Keyword/category. You can copy the URL for
the return and add your Referer code.
How the site keeps track:
The REFERER=
your code here is how the system knows where the
sale came from and are able to automatically credit your account. So add the
referer to anything that is linked to our site. When a sale is recorded your
code helps us tally your commissions
Next, try product cross-merchandising. Many of our
customers have purchased
across multiple product categories at SafetyStore.com - so you can show them
different products as well. In the example above, you're already featuring top-selling higher cost trauma kits that relates well to your site content. Now, you should
think about "increasing your odds"--by featuring other relevant products.
Perhaps stethoscopes, outdoor accessories, ICS vests CPR gear etc.
We are happy to sell any product in our catalog, they all add up. But we don't
want you to feel like you are only getting commissions on "nickel and dine
stuff."
Try including links to a higher priced items - at an average selling price of $80
or more, sales of these product can
result in a higher commission per sale. The lesson here: featuring different product
lines helps you capture more sales from your visitors; featuring a range of
price points offers the possibility of higher commissions for you as well.
Work, patience, experimentation ...
It has taken us 12 years to get our business to
level it is today. Finally, we can now offer affiliate linking to our sites.
If you are interested in giving this a try we are happy to have you on board.
If you are new to affiliate links, place your links, make adjustments as you
go and give it a try for a year. After 12 months, with a little effort you
should be seeing rewards.
We will make an effort to send you a few e-mails
each year letting you know of changes to the site, upcoming sales etc. Our
company also runs several other safety related websites (see
Aboutus) that you are free to sign up for to
increase your commission potential. We will notify you as the affiliate
systems of the other sites are ready. We want this program to be successful
for both of us. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them.
I hope you found this page helpful. We are
launching this program September , 2003 in time for the start of the Christmas
season. We look forward to many years of happy affiliates receiving, 150%
store credit, gift certificates and/or yes, commission checks.
Sincerely
Steven R Hull
